Hello! My name is Aly Boote, and I’ve been an avid baker all my life. During the pandemic, I started baking gingerbread houses for friends and family and now – 6 years later – this sweet holiday treat has become an annual tradition! Last year I opened it up to the community to support an organization I love – Deaf Spotlight. Learn more about Deaf Spotlight. Kits sold out quickly with over $2,700 raised to support an awesome cause. If you missed out on a chance to get a kit, see below for ingredients to make your own:

Gingerbread House Recipe and Ingredients
Gingerbread House Recipe: This recipe by Sally’s Baking Addiction is the one I use every year for gifts. A single batch is more than enough to make 1 house. A double batch will make 3 houses. I use sugar-free candy for the windows, because they contain Isomalt which melts clear.
If you’re interested in making a construction gingerbread house that’s lighter and easier for custom designs, I recommend this one by Serious Eats. I used that recipe to make a Gingerbread replica of my townhouse.
Gingerbread House Ingredients: unbleached flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, salt, butter, brown sugar, egg, molasses. (Gluten Free is made with King Arthur 1:1 Measure for Measure Gluten Free flour.)
Candy Window Ingredients: Isomalt, Maltitol Syrup, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Red 40, Blue 1, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Red 3.
